Golden retriver puppie keeps biting my trousers when I walk & biting me- any ideas on how to stop her?

I have a 3 month old beautiful puppie, she is lovely and friendly to all children and strangers. The only problem I have is that she keeps biting my face, ears and back. Also the main problem is when I walk she is biting my trousers and hanging onto them. At first I thought it was sweet but now, she is getting really aggresive and is trying to rip the trousers, also she is getting through to my skin which really hurts. I have tried dog chews, dog toys and even tried to cry as I was told this would stop her, how wrong she thinks it is a game and gets even roughter. I have alot off friends with small children and am worried that she will get rought with them. Can anyone give me any ideas on what to try- As my trousers can not take much more.
Answers:
A spray bottle filled with cold water will shock her into stopping, I think. It won't hurt her physically, it'll just startle her.
Spray some dog repellant on your trousers
Hi, I had a similar problem with my golden retriever when he was a pup, I took him to the vet and he said bite him back, I know it sounds cruel but just nip her ear not too hard and then follow by saying "NO BITE". I did this, the first time I did it my dog looked so shocked he soon stopped doing it. Good Luck.
shout and deepen your voice when she does bite your troussers and show her you mean business if she releases then give her a little biscuit as a reward she should soon get the hang of it. or carry a spray of water n spray her in the face they hate it she,ll soon stop
Can you still get muzzles for dogs?
If so get one and fit it.
your puppy is still young enough to be trained. look up a dog trainer in your area. you could try a change of diet and you can also try using an authorative voice when commanding the dog to stop. use a deep voice and maintain eye contact when doing it. retrievers are lovely dogs and very intelligent. they can be boisterous but being firm with it at an early age should iron out any problems for the future.
try to avoid using a muzzle because this could distress the dog and make her behaviour worse in the long term
The water spay is always a good thing to try it does work. I have always used a rolled up paper and just smaked it on my hand and said No and they tend to hate the noise and back away. you should then tell her good girl maybe get a clicker and give her a treat for stopping.
Good Luck puppies are fun but hard work x
When the dog bites, grab it around the nose, holding its mouth shut for a couple of seconds, and say "NO!" firmly. It doesn't hurt but dogs hate the feeling. She will soon get the message.
Dogs hate vineger. Spray it on your pant cuffs. My dog used to chew on my hands and a dog trainer suggested that I spray vineger in her mouth each time she did it. She stopped in less than a day. You are right to take care of this now while she is young and small. Don't let her use her teeth on any person at all. Ever.
smack her on the nose when she nips pick her up and take her to her basket repeating to her that she is a bad girl then ignore her and if she moves keep sending her back to her basket worked for my dog
get some bitter liquid from pet shops(forgot the names, some are called bitterapple or something) and spray them onto your trousers. do not encourage this behavior by bending down and trying to pry him off or giving him any attention. shout 'no' the moment he bites it. if he does not let go, just stay on the spot. main thing is for him to realise that bting your trousers does not get him anything. if it starts to hurt, i suggest you bend down and actually slap him gently on the snout. aim is not to hurt him, but to make him let go. for some dogs, this behavior dissappears as they mature, so hope that is the case with yours, as mature golden retrivers who see legs as sausages can be quite dangerous (just think of the size, and you will see)
My goodness some of the answers! Never hit your pup and the vinigar will only burn the pups nose and eyes.
You cna try the plain water in the spray bottle. Remember she is still a baby and is just learning the ins and outs of your family. You can also get a small bottle of some kind and put a few pennies in it and when she goes for the trouers shake it to startle her long enough to say NO BITE. Then offer her a toy to play with. She is only 12 weeks old and will try to get your attention to play and unfourtinatly your pants are at just the right level for her to do this.
She is old enough to be enrolled into puppy kindergarden also. Look for a good class and get her and you into it. It's fun and they do learn so much and so do you.
Have fun with your pup!
First of all,it's not aggresion of any sort,it's completly normal puppy behaviour. The best way we stopped our dogs, was when we was playing and they started nipping etc we said no loudly and firmly,we ended play imediantly and walked away from the puppy. If you can seperate her from you for 5-10mins this will give her time to calm down and she'll soon realise that when she uses her teeth on you,it ends all the fun.Don't encourage rough, boistrous games with her as this will get her more worked up.Use the same technique for when she bites your trousers, pick her up,tell her no loudly and firmly and seperate her for 5-10mins.With consistency and patience this is just a passing phase for pups who are learning, but like i said you must be consistent and firm with her.Good luck.
A spray bottle with an adjustable nozzle set on narrow spray will stop the behavior instantly--but likely will require frequent repeated sprays for each biting behavior. As soon as the puppy stops biting because of the spray, praise it with a "good dog" and distract it with a chew toy or ball. Most puppies really like the disgusting smell of the cow hooves available at pet stores.

Also time to take your puppy to puppy kindergarten classes at your local dog training facility. Sometimes these classes are offered at the local humane society, at a veterinarian clinic, and of course at a local training school for dog obedience. They are really fun because everyone has a naughty but cute puppy they are learning to work with. The trainers answer lots of questions and will guide you through all kinds of problem behaviors. Classes typically meet once a week for 6-8 weeks.

With summer around the corner, this is a great time to have fun with a puppy in a training program because the classes often move outdoors for play time.
when my golden was a pup he would do this but i foung if i grabbed his nose and held on he did learn to stop i didnt hurt him but i just wouldnt let his nose go he soon learnt that he didnt bite i didnt grab his nose he soon stopped
