Lots of anti- dog clothing people in here so not a wise place to put up this question.

However, to answer your question (based on the fact that I stay in Singapore and the temperature here is 30C constant and I WEAR CLOTHES FOR MY DOGS), the key point that you have to realize is that the material is very important. Design is also very crucial. Most people do not know this but dogs sweat through glands located on their paws as well as through panting, so please do not cover up their paw areas. Material for clothing must be very breathable cotton (usually known as Grade A cotton), please do not use lycra or any other synthetic material as they trap heat AND THIS can cause problems for your dog. Getting used to it is just a matter of constant usage.

I applaud your efforts to wear clothing for your dog as this will help keep ticks and mites eggs off her body coat when you take her out for walks. Also please remember to wipe her legs after walks to clear off eggs that may have been stuck to her paws and feet as these are not covered.
lol...dont want her to be miserable?

I would think the dog would be miserable wearing clothes since, dogs dont wear clothes.

You must not live in the U.S because its gets really hot in the summer and no one in their right mind would dress up a dog in the summer.
It's a dog, they're not supposed to wear clothes. If you want to play "dress-up" buy yourself a babydoll. geesh...
For goodness sakes she is a dog not a little human. Let her be a dog, if you want something to dress up have a child or get a doll. Don't try and make a dog anything but what it is.
Dogs aren't supposed to wear clothes. They are not babies.. you are cruel to subject them to being humilated by wearing stupid clothes. If the weather is cool a little dog coat is all that is ever needed. Clothes for summertime are just plain stupid. Get your doggie a nice collar and leash for summer.
Put the clothes on her and let her wear them around the house for a half an hour first, just let her get used to them. Then extend the time a little longer and longer. She will do okay.

I don't understand whyy people get so upset with dog's wearing clothes. Nothing wrong with it at all!
Chihuahuas look stupid enough without clothes - what are you trying to do, win the "ugliest pet" section at your local fair?

Really, WHY???
this is one of my pet hates...ur dog is going to sweat her t//ts off if you ponce her up in clothes in the summer...how would u feel dressed up looking a tw at..dressing dogs up is cruel and unnatural..and wot for? just so u can have a handbag dog that makes you look good
Thats... werid. Dogs don't like being in clothes, so save money and don't even bother the buy them!
You don't want her to be miserable yet you want to dress a DOG in clothes? Well would you like her to feel embarrassed or humiliated? That's exactly how she will feel when you decide to dress her up in summer for your own amusement and enjoyment. Dogs don't wear clothes. Grow up. If you're so into dressing things, have a child or buy a doll. Don't do it to your poor, innocent dog.
OMG. You don't want her to be miserable? I don't know how much you know about dogs, but they don't actually wear clothes. They're not meant to wear clothes. It's some stupid idea that Paris Hilton made popular.
If you are worried your dog is cold, I would be more concerned about getting heating in your place and making sure your dog isn't stuck in the cold weather. If you just want it to look cute, I honestly wouldn't bother, the dog has no idea what it looks like, and if it hates wearing them, DON'T PUT THEM ON IT!! Seriously, it's pointless.
If you must pretty it up, why don't you get it a cute collar?
