We buy the frontline for the largest dogs and divide it between our chihuahuas. Woeks great. We haven't had a flea/tick infestation in yr. You also need to treat the yard because they will work their way in there.
1-3 doses
This is really not recommended, as you have no way of knowing how they have worked the dosage.

In other words:

Have they doubled both the amount of medicine and the amount of inert materials holding the medicine?

or:

Have they doubled just the amount of medicine and left the amount of inert materials roughly the same?

Or:

Have they doubled the amount of medicine and increased the amount of inert materials by one half or one third or some other bizarre amount?

Don't play games with your pets' lives. This is one area where being cheap won't gain you much in the long run.
I'd be more concerned with storing the second dose. Evaporation, spillage, toddlers and such.
I'm not sure why you want to worry about sparingly using your frontline. Twenty three pounds is more than you're going to need for years!

You could bathe your dog in it for a long time and still have plenty left over.

I wouldn't. Why take the risk to save a few cents? Once the package is open you pretty much have to use it. You also have to be a rocket science to measure properly. Call your vet.
nope - once you open the frontline it must be used right away - it will not keep effectively until next month.

besides that, if you overdose accidentally you can make the dog very sick indeed
.
no you should buy the proper dossage for each dog, the product is designed to work a certain way, if you split the dose than you not evenly distributing the frontline on both dogs and you run the risk of both of you pets getting fleas or even lyme disease, go to www.petshed.com it is very affordable to buy frontline there and you will be able to give both dogs the proper dose they need to keep them in good health.
You can buy a larger dose of Frontline and do this. The Frontline doses are sold by the amount that is in a tube.
If you are using it all at once you can split it but you can not "save" it. I would suggest using half and half.

Have you checked the bottles of Frontline spray. If it is cost you may want to check into it. Its maybe 10-12 ounces and you spray it all over the dog and rub it in. We do it with kitten and little pups that come in with fleas.
These come in one dose packages. You will not be able to keep the rest of the remaining package sealed without getting dried out. How sure are you going to be that you give the dog the exact amount from one month to the next.
Don't risk your dogs health. Its not worth it.
actually my vet only had the larger dose of exspot and advised to use the vile on 1 dog and other half on the other. Also I do not think this raseberry person is a vet. No Dr. would risk being sued for advice given on PetQnA.com .
JR hit it right on the money. get the spray... it works well... not quite as well as the drops but it does work well... make sure it is frontline... please dont get HARTZ as it is a horrible product!! I have had pets DIE in my arms at the vet I used to work for because of that nasty product!! Yes DIE. several pets... so please go with frontline.the spray will last you forever and you dont have to orry about spillage or inproper dosage...smile.

Edit: I also worked for a cat rescue at one time and the vet had told her to do 1/2cc per cat using the extra large dog frontline. She drew it all up in a syringe and dosed them as they came in. I spoke with the rep that came to our office and sold the product and it is not reccomended to do so but it is something that alot of people do as it costs so much. He also stated you would almst have to bathe them in the product in order to overdose them. so use the information I provided as you feel but I really liked the spray for small dogs, and the vet that I worked for said it was alot more cost effective when you have several small dogs, and on a side note if you have a cat then you can use the spray on them if they will tolerate it, you might have to wear some gloves and spray in on the gloves then apply to the cat though.some cats are not happy with being sprayed...lol...good luck in your decision!!! smile
