Frontline info?

We had a stray come up to the house several weeks ago well on wednesday she desided under our house was the best place to have her pups. We gathered up the pups and mom and took them to the vet since she was friendly and she also had alot of hair lose. It turns out she had demodectic mange, serious skin ionfections and alot of worms but something that the vet told me to do im not really sure i should follow. She had alot of fleas so they gave her a capstar and told me to spray her and the pups with frontline. Has anyone ever heard of doing this? I read the bottle and it say not to spray pups under 8 weeks and to consult a vet before spraying on pregnent and lactating females.
Answers:
You are very right in being careful. I would call the vet and check if those were his EXACT instructions, and, if worse comes to worse, you could try calling another local vet for his opinion or switch vets completely.

quikc sidenote- once the pups are fully grown, i recommend that you have the female spayed.
I've never heard of "spraying" frontline on dogs. You are supposed to wait until 8 wks of age to use Frontline on puppies. Capstar can be used on any age >2 lbs I believe. The mom can get dips or medication for demodex mange. The puppies get the mange from their moms but this condition is treatable and not that big of a deal. I would not use the frontline on the newborns and wait until weaning to use it on the mom.
I would avoid use of frontline spray on the pups or mom until the pups are 8 wks of age.
hi the frontline is delivered in small cans, or plastic dozes that are used one per 15 kilograms or so of dog's weight. the dosage is written in the user's disclaimer in the package. it is not suitable for puppies, your dog shall not get bath one day prior and three days after the application. it is applicated from the needle direct onto skin at neck, away from dog's reach. your puppies will get rid of fleas much better with using of some human desinsecting shampoo, these are less invasive than the canine treatments.

btw I was trzing the frontline too, and the repellent collars are working much better, you just have to keep an eye on your dog and remove the collar prior to the water working disciplines.
