Gas chamber to pts dogs?

why do many shelters use this methods?? any reason for this or is it cheaper than any other option.
thanks
Answers:
It's cost effective. They can throw 20 dogs into a chamber and gas them all at once vs. lethal injection one dog at a time.

If people would spay/neuter their pets, and backyard breeders would stop pretending they're professional breeders, then there wouldn't be a need to euthanize animals.
population control.
i didnt know they used a gas chamber. thats awful!!
the usual method for euthanizing dogs is an injection.
It is less painful than most other ways of euthanising. Also it is very quick. When a dog, (or person) dies in the chamber, they die with a euphoria (they get high) no pain...
Shelters in my area stopped doing that years and years ago. They have a vet come in and give pentobarbitol.
It is the cheapest..The statement about 'euphoria' is just a nice myth. The dogs vomit , gasp and gag until dead.
It's cheap and you don't need any specialized training to use it. It's also barbaric and should be outlawed. It isn't quick at all. Usually takes about 45 minutes and there's no euphoria. The animals are usually terrified.

.
It is often used in areas where there is a high number of pets that are being turned in allowing them to put down more animals at once, it is a lot more time consuming and expensive to put down one animal at a time , more often they will be used in puppy mill states, some rural pounds still use the bullet to the head to euthanize.

Sadly as long as we allow people to breed animals indiscriminately this will continue to happen.
