Having a pet expo, what kind of demo would interest you?

We are having a Pet Expo for the German Shepherd Dog Rescue, and I need at least 1 more idea for a demonstration..so far I have a Police officer and his German Shepherd doing a drug search, a CSI guy and his border collie AJ %26 Zip, doing a forensic search with Q%26A, and an obedience drill team..Have any good ideas for families and a fun day??

Can you get someone to do a SAR (SearchAndRescue) demonstration? There was recently a beneft at one of our local parks for the Humane Society and they chose a child at random from the audience, had her parents wander off through the crowd with her, then about 10 minutes later gave the animal a bandana the girl had been wearing. Took the dog less than 2 minutes to find the child - impressive!
Do you know any agility trainers who might do a demo?
Ask local vets about doing a microchip clinic.
Could the friendly, calm shepherds be pursuaded to dress up? Sometimes a handler/dog costume parade can draw smiles from the crowd. You could even have a contest. It kind of helps people see the lighter side of having a pet!

Good luck with your expo!
The Lazy Pig Animal Sanctuary
How about a quick talk about why it's important to spay/neuter your pets!

It's a good thing to have the "pros", but those are things that most people can not do with their dogs.
With so many fun things that people can do, (IMHO of course) you should demonstrate some of those that go beyond just O/B training. Is their a Field Trial or Hunt Test club in your aria, or a herding club, or lure coursing, something that the people at the expo could actually train their dog to do.

BTW,, our shows are this weekend in Logan Utah,,,,, anyone wanna play ring steward,,,, (sigh)
Grooming demonstration...it's always educational and no one really understands the full amount that goes into professional grooming.
Mabey you could persude your local dog club to have a puppy match. You could demenstrate how a dog show works and the entry money could go to the rescue.
What about a demo on toys that are great for Geman Shepherds? People spend alot of $$ every year on toys their dogs won't play with or eat in 20 minutes. You could show off the talents of your breed at the same time!
